Hello! I am currently working in studying the antimicrobial activity of aqueous extracts made from cowpea plant. We are using different parts of the plant and trying to develop a single protocol to apply. Every plant part has been grinded to the same size and we are using water has a extract solvent. For the extraction itself, we are applying ultrasounds and a 24h-maceration step. After this, we perform a filtration step with gauze to remove most of the plant material, and then a vaccum filtration with a paper filter Whatman no.3. Still, our extracts are not clear and the mixture appears a bit turbid. Has anyone experienced this? Do you suggest other paper filters or an additional filtration step? Thank you in advance!
