I will like to graft trimethoxysilylpropyl 2-methylimidazole on silica. Normally, the trimethoxysilylpropyl group is linked to a N-atom of 2-methylimidazole. However, I will like to have a structure in which the Trimethoxysilylpropyl is link to carbon atom 4 of 2-methylimidazole (i.e. 4-trimethoxysilylpropyl-2-methylimidazole - refer to attached file). For my purpose, I need both N-atoms of 2-methylimidazole to be "free' and the methyl group between then is also vital. Is there a chemistry through which this can be achieved?
Thank you for your assistance.
