I am a second year chemistry student prepping the proposal to my thesis and wish to investigate the effect of nutrient deprivation on the microalga genus Rhizoclonium over the span of 5 days. I would like to investigate the triglyceride levels using GC-MS and Fatty Acid Methyl Esters using HPLC-UV. Does anyone have any papers and/or suggestions/methods for this idea? And if you may have a paper describing it further it would help too :).

Also if you have any papers for extraction and/or transesterification that use the same solvent, example methanol or ethanol, it would save me a lot of costs, if not it is ok anything will do. :)

And if there are any available papers showing whether ethanol or methanol is better to use during transesterification that would be amazing, thank you!
