Does anybody could share some tricks on how to make clay slides (oriented mounts) for XRD diffraction, without having them cracking and/or curling during drying? Thanks
if the clay slides are peeling during drying, make sure there are no larger grains in your clay suspension, also the slides on which you are pasting clay, should be clean, not even a single dust grain, also be careful about the finger prints, sometimes left on the slides which don't let the clay stick to the glass. recently experienced some of these tricks.
also try a less concentrated clay suspension of clay on the slides.
