Could you clarify what do you mean for trascendental? In my classes, what I try to promote is transformative learning and I really think that it is trancendental for each individual to go beyond the traditional ways of acquiring different kind of knowledge that definitively they will need for their future careers in the XXI century world.
I agree with your definition of transformational education, for me, is about creating meaningful learning experiences for students focusing on content and development of self as a future professional.
Transcendental education, is about understanding the world we live in. Looking at how education frees and limits our ability to develop self. Key scholars would be Paulo Freire, bell hooks, Giroux, MacIntyre ...
I understand but I still dont see amy difference between transformative amd trascendental learning. Perhaps is because For me Transformative learning is precisely the process of understand or to see the world we live with other eyes and this process is trascendental itself. What I do in my classes to promote transformative learning is to work with symbolism and methaphors, because is through language that we deal with the world we live.
First may I ask if you have actually considered defining the meanings of 'transformational' and 'transcendental'. to me, transcendental is more religious or spiritual. The term 'transformation' has many definitions but I would recommend you take this definition thus " In an organizational context, a process of profound and radical change that orients an organization in a new direction and takes it to an entirely different level of effectiveness". Regards.
