I would like to know whether TOPSIS gives relative results while comparing different alternatives?
For e.g. if three Cars A, B and C are being compared based on different parameters. Will the change in TOPSIS score of one car due to change in any of its parameters, have an effect on the TOPSIS scores of other two cars?

Sanchit Saran Agarwal , it can indeed have an effect. A majority of multicriteria decision making methods employ some form of normalization on the decision parameters. By modifying parameters, we are potentially impacting the normalization process, which can lead to a change in ranking. This phenomenon is known as rank-reversal (originally identified by Belton and Gear, 1983). It is important to remember that these methods offer relative and not absolute rankings.
