Music is an important fact in neurological rehabiltation. The perception of music is very useful in early rehabilitation as well in intensive care or during post surgical management. In case of demage of speech areas choir msuic or opera music is useful to hear. Later after recovering singing in a choir or singing lessons are very helpful for patients with speech disabilities.
There are a lot of studies about music in neurological intensiv care or about patients with Alzheimer´s disease. A lot of studies investigated the effect of music in patients with speech disabilities or in children with learning disabilities.
Oliver Sachs wrote about music/dancing helping his patients with post encephalitic parkinson's break out of their frozen state in his first book AWAKENINGS
