Normally we say, there is no tool-wear during Electro-Chemical Machining (ECM). Is it so? or is there any other possibilities of tool wear while ECMing?
Yes, there is no direct contact between the work piece and tool, but still a tool wears - reason is 1. The electric discharge always lead to a temperature rise, and movement of sludge in the narrow passage between the tool and work-piece or combination of point 1 and 2 may be the reason for tool wear
Generally, there is no tool wear in ECM and it is one of advantages of the process which enables us to machine materilas with high hardness with cutting tool made of cupper, ECM principle is based on Faraday's low which focus on erasing materials form anode(Wp.) then the material is transferred to cathode (Tool).
