Turning mice into human beings, human beings into mice.
To what extent is this useful and does it require careful analysis? I personally hold that testing psychiatric drugs on mice in lab conditions actually tells us nothing about human problems, but often it is just a means of marketing drugs. I would suggest that in such experiments and subsequent ideas on human nature are accepted without sufficient debate. Here, we have a certain scientific , ideological viewpoint that may cause as much harm as good. Many hold that any scientific direction is good under the notions of progress and the special liberties bestowed on science, but should we not consider matters more deeply? This is not a moral viewpoint, but can be answered as one.
