Can you define quality? Is the response subjective? Can perceptions change? What can cause change?
Quality is the degree of match to expectation, or how much a thing exceeds expectations as perceived by the recipient. The object could be a service or a tangible thing, and its quality could suggest how much 'adjustment' or 'repair' may be required to correct a complaint. The 'measure' of quality could be subjective, but if the parameters of quality have been proactively defined (qualitatively & quantitatively) then it could also have objective elements to it also. Perceptions of quality can change, just as the specifications of quality can change depending on both supplier and customer requirement dynamics. Also, the environment could cause change . Such influences as changes in demographics, understanding of regulatory requirements etc.
Yes, I totally agree with the statement. I feel that everyone has their own definition of quality, consequently, in turn, it has an impact on their practice.
I hear often and I am inclined to agree to some point that quality is subjective, but at some point in this endeavor to improve the environments for children, is there a possibility for some measurement of quality?
