The energy analysis should be done to know the details of the demand energy of any building. Some simulation programs are better than others in such studies, such as external shades consideration some of them are able to consider shades but others are unable.
So far there's no single software package to tackle all energy, carbon and other factors related to building optimization in an integrated environment. However, Ladybug, Honeybee and some other applications connect Rhinoceros 3D modeling program with considerably powerful engines or other base programs such as EnergyPlus, THERM, OpenStudio and so on and so forth in a user-friendly way. I think visual/graphical programming environments/interfaces such as Grasshopper and Dynamo are the most inclusive and extensible platforms to interconnect various programs which weren't interconnected classically. You could also involve optimization algorithms e.g., Galapagos genetic algorithm directly within the Grasshopper environment.

I agree that the best option in this case is Energyplus. However, there is another option that you re not considering: Designbuilder. It uses the same calculation engine as the energyplus and is also powerful. In addition, the use of the software Ecotect is very interesting in order to obtain meteorological data from anywhere in the world.

Energy Plus is certainly the better calculation engine. However, their specific software may not be user friendly. Design Builder and Open Studio use the same engine but are much friendlier. I would agree with your first respondent to this question that Ladybug/Honeybee would be useful. With the right circumstances, Ladybug/Honeybee can tie more closely design developments and the ability to analyze. Using Honeybee makes it easy to transfer a building model into Open Studio and thus subjected to an Energy Plus analysis.
Revit is simply a BIM modeling software. Autodesk offers energy modeling services that would analyze a BIM model. However, their calculation engine is a 'black box' -- meaning that no one knows what it is or can verify its assumptions. As such, it is difficult to trust it's results when its engine hasn't been subjected to as much verification as Energy Plus.
I use DesignBuilder. It uses EnergyPlus as calculation engine (the most validated engine) and it has a very friendly interface. The only problem is that it is not a free software, you can download a 30-day trial from the website.

Hi. The Enegyplus engine is the best. You can us (Design builder) software for your simulations because it recognize the building with its elements. It recognize wall, roof, ceiling, ground and ... separately.
Sorry to drop another software on you, but I would strongly advise IES Integrated Environments https://www.iesve.com/, its Apache simulation engine is very accurate.
In addition, to connect to Revit, you can use Dynamo to pick up the results from IES and bring it into Revit envrionment. If you need to optimise, you could use Refinery for Dynamo.
