When assessing the contribution platelet concentrates make to coagulation, the above tests are commonly used within the platelet concentrate research field. However, are both nescisary for a accurate measure of a pro-coagulant potential or can just the TEG be used. Other tests used alongside either/both of these will be routine platelet concentrate assessments, but i am unsure if i need both or just one of the above coagulation assessments. Any advice would be appreciated

obviously the answer depends on your needs.
In general, the TEG or ROTEM or other viscoelastic tests cannot accurately measure platelet function. However, both methods have add ons, with which they can estimate/measure platelet function.
The Quanta seems to give some information on platelet function.
Regarding the CAT, this technique does not give you direct information on platelet function. Still, when using platelet rich plasma (PRP) you might get an impression of platelet contribution.

Consider testing with T-TAS. At low platelet counts the HD-Chip may have advantages over PL- and R-Chips.
