The transition from electric cars to combustion cars took place over 100 years ago. From a climatic and environmental point of view, this was one of the biggest blind spots in the development of civilisation, which, together with the development of combustion energy, became key factors in the development of brown, combustion-based, unsustainable economies destroying the planet's climate and biosphere. We are now trying to reverse this process and correct the aforementioned mistake of the development of civilisation. Most car companies already mass-produce some of their models in electric vehicle versions. Some car companies are also already mass-producing hydrogen-powered vehicles, i.e. fully emission-free (also in terms of energy source). New, increasingly stringent standards and environmental, pro-climate regulations in the European Union are motivating the auto-moto business to make this type of pro-climate and pro-environmental transformation. The aforementioned year 2035 is an ambitious date from a political and business perspective. However, given the accelerating process of global warming, the sooner this process of pro-climate and pro-environmental transformation of transport can be carried out, the better for the climate, the planet's biosphere and biodiversity, and of course the better for humanity. However, a climate-oriented and environmentally-friendly transformation of transport alone will not solve all the problems associated with CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, environmental pollution, global warming and the growing risk of a climate catastrophe in the relatively near future. Some countries lack a developed charging infrastructure for electric cars. There is a lack of modern, additional, zero-emission power stations to supply electricity to further electric vehicles, which are already available for sale from car brand dealers. There is a lack of a developed business to carry out environmentally neutral disposal of used batteries. There are many problems to be solved. But there is also a lot of eco-innovation and green technology, which, due to political and business constraints, the lobby of fossil fuel mines, oil refineries, large mining companies, energy companies generating electricity and/or heat based on the combustion of fossil fuels, unfortunately does not leave the research laboratories, are not being implemented on a large scale and, as a consequence, the overall process of carrying out the pro-environmental transformation of the classic growth, brown, linear economy of excess to a sustainable, green, zero-carbon zero-growth and closed loop economy is progressing much more slowly than it could. And we have very little time left. Many of these above-mentioned problems of electromobility development would be quickly solved if the pro-environmental transformation of transport was significantly accelerated by scaling up the production of hydrogen-powered cars. According to long-term climate change models, a global climate catastrophe could already occur in the current 21st century. Until recently, based on the results of studies by the IPCC and other independent research centres, it was thought that a tipping point in the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere would occur around the middle of the current 21st century if CO2 emissions were not rapidly reduced and zeroed out in the following years. On the basis of the most recent IPCC reports, it has been concluded that this tipping point of atmospheric CO2 will occur before the middle of the 21st century if the environmentally friendly transformation of the economy, including the energy and automotive sectors, is not significantly accelerated. If this tipping point is exceeded, the process of global warming will be significantly accelerated and will enter a path of irreversibility. In view of the above, there are still many problems to be solved in order to accelerate the necessary pro-environmental transformation of the economy. A number of research findings suggest that most depends on what can be done in this regard during the current decade. In the context of what I have written above, 2035 no longer looks ambitious.

Another emerging problem is the high political and environmental cost of lithium production, which is necessary for the production of batteries. Likewise, the increased demand for resources that are necessary for the production of electric cars will undoubtedly significantly increase both the production and the price of electric cars, so the question arises whether the ownership of electric cars will become a privilege or whether it will become widespread as was the case with fossil-fueled cars?

I am personally concerned about the increasing demand for electricity today due to the current situation, especially in Europe. If there are challenges with ensuring a sufficient amount of electricity even though the full application of electric cars has not yet taken off, the question arises of what will happen to the demand and the ability to meet the demand for electricity when the full transition to the use of electric vehicles also requires a significant amount of electricity?

Apart from all that, if we are talking about the use of electric vehicles as a basis for reducing harmful gas emissions, the question arises why the focus is not directed to industry as well, since the problem of global warming can only be solved with a systematic approach that includes the reduction of emissions of harmful gases in the fields of industry, transport, agriculture, construction, etc?

The European Union has proposed an effective ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035, aiming to speed up the switch to zero-emission electric vehicles as part of a broad package of measures to combat global warming.

The EU executive, the European Commission, proposed a 55% cut in CO2 emissions from cars by 2030 versus 2021 levels, much higher than the existing target of a 37.5% reduction by then.

The aim is a good one from the environmental point of view, but in my opinion, difficult to be achieved.

The full replacement of fossil fueled-car with electric cars in other regions will take more time due to several factors such as limitation of car production, prices of electric cars, infrastructure that need to be built, and the supply of key materials to increase electric car production, among others.

In addition, there is the question of what will happen to fossil fuel cars and how such vehicles will be recycled since we are talking about millions of such vehicles. Furthermore, there is also a significant problem with recycling electric cars, especially electric car batteries.

There are indeed a large number of questions and challenges, not to mention problems, to which it is urgently necessary to find an answer.
