In principle I'd agree, but there is always the information horizon: Even if the "storaging on the road" (i.e. just in time delivery of OEM supply to the manufacturers) is optimally designed by information interchanges there may be interferences like larger traffic jams or adverse weather conditions that cannot be anticipated in detail. Therefore a limited amount of storaging on site will be mandatory to keep production running smoothly..
Besides smooth flow of information, the process includes smooth flow of materials from suppliers, smooth production and smooth delivery to end customers.
