hellow everyone, nowadays i spend a much time thinking p22 phage in relation to transduction.

these days,i have heard that the p22 phage which i used have an only lytic cycle pathway. i wonder about the reason why i use p22 phage which lives on only lytic cycle at the time i experiment with transduction.

i guess i should better use a lysogenic life cycle pathway in order to insert a gene of interest, if i experiment a transduction as you know.

is there any other meaning of using an only lytic cycle p22 phage for recombination? i guess that the experiment which i implemented was not to insert a gene into salmonella chromosom, then i think this is not to do that....

please help me and teach me the reason.

thank you for reading my question and have a nice day.
