I use Au-TiO2 as catalyst to perform this reaction in anaerobic environment. For the detection I use a GC with TCD detector. Yet the amount of hydrogen i detect from the GC is way to low, any explainations as to way?
Do you work in an aqueous solution? If yes, maybe the pH can play a role. If it's too alkaline there are less free protons to run the reaction.
Moreover, in this article ACS Catal. 2013, 3, 79−85 it is mentioned that hydrogen evolution is very limited in the absence of a co-catalyst (e.g. Pt, Pd).
