What key criteria/measures could be used to establish the effectiveness of a major university restructure e.g. 3 to 4 years after a restructure.
Some universities seem to restructure every 5 to 7 years as new VCs are appointed. A lot of effort is focused on a university restructure mostly prompted to save cost, become more efficient and innovative. A significant number of staff are made or choose to be made redundant and some corporate knowledge is lost, Yet after the restructure, new staff get re-appointed and generally after 4 or so years staffing numbers are similar to those before the restructure. How effective are restructures and should universities tread carefully before goindg down that track.
