it is experimentally proved that the minus 300 micron particles, if present in too little qty. will produce harsh concrete lacking cohesiveness and tending to seggregate. While much of its qty leads to 'sticky mixes' and also tends to increase the water requirement. Could anyone explain me the elementary behavior of such particles?
When we use very small particles then surface area increases which result into more demand of water. Effect on cohesion depends on quantity being used and behaviour can be improved with use of superplasticizers and other similar admixtures. Fines are also good in selfcompacting concrete
Just need your explanation about use of minus 300 micron or just 300 micron.

I was quite confused by some articles that i have read recently.Some of them stated that even higher levels of fines can be tolerated in crusher sands, even in excess of 10% and even helps to control bleeding. On the other hand, the ASTM C33 limits the qty of such finer particles to 5%. If so,why is the scenario different in case of the crusher sands?
