In my EDS test result for GO-SiO2 (Figure provided below), the presence of Au element was also detected, which was weird. However, this element has no share in the weight ratio of the material. I am wondering why Au is there. Is this a coincidence or what?

in order to prevent charging of your sample due to the electron beam bombardment in a SEM, the sample surface is in general covered by a very thin film of Au or C prior to the experiments.
C itself is part of the sample; so the operator decided to use Au as conducting surface layer.
Thus Au shows up in the EDS signal; but the operator has skipped the Au peak (Au M-alpha&beta) in the data evaluation.

As it seen from the spectra, EDS operator applyed too thick layer of gold. Because of it quantification results he presented to you are greatly skewed and unreliable. "Fortunately" most reviewers for free access papers have no idea about the method and will not pay attention.
The Au peak in EDS pattern is very high. So, as the Au peak is skipped during the data evaluation, it is very unreliable data.
