I want to prepare cobalt ferrite thin film by spin coating technique using sol-gel .When will we collect the gel to deposit on glass substrate for spinning to get perfect film..? Can anyone say what is the perfect heat treating temperature of the as prepared film on the substrate by spin coating to get cobalt ferrite thin film?
Actually we used nitrate of cobalt and iron in solgel method. We collected gel at different times before combustion and the gel were deposited on glass substrate. After continuous spining of the substrate by spin coater, heated the substrate at different temperatures(like 120, 500 degree centigrade). But there were only one peak appeared in XRD pattern as mentioned bellow.

You are using spin coating using some sol gel derived solution probably, and trying to pyrolyze the film to obtain Cobalt ferrite.
1) Firstly try to take a small crucible put your solution/gel into it, and try to fire it, and later anneal it at a suitable temperature to obtain a clump of powder, and check if single phase Cobalt ferrite powder is being formed. Check at what temperature of annealing/sintering the stoichiometric compound cobalt ferrite is being formed.
Once you know the temperature, then assess whether a normal glass substrate will withstand the established temperature for crystallizing your sol-gel cobalt ferrite solution.
Normal glass actually begins to soften around 400 deg C., and glass contains lot of sio2, and you might be forming some silicates, due to diffusion of your cobalt ferrite solution during pyrolysis, and any subsequent annealing process.
2) you must choose a suitable substrate, firstly which withstands the temperature required to crystallie cobalt ferrite, and secondly it should not react with cobalt ferrite to give you intermediate compounds.
3) You can try to analyze your XRD, and identify the phase corresponding to the peak you have measured, does it belong to any of the oxides, of cobalt, iron, or the corresponding silicates.
