In order to prepared reduced graphene oxide from graphene oxide, I have carried out heat treatment of graphene oxide from 400-650 C at inert furnace. At 400-550 C it reduced graphene oxide no peak were found in xrd data but at 650 C a peak at brag position 26 was found, Some papers use the term graphene nanopelets and someone says graphite peaks again other one sai graphene sheet.. Actually what does it.. what is called which peak is around 26.. what is the difference between graphene naopelets, graphene nanosheet and graphite..?
XRD is no longer suitable for investigate the carbonaceous materials. You have to take Raman spectral analysis where you can conclude what is the product. The graphite, reduced graphene oxide and graphene are revealed the peak at (2 theta) 25-26 degree, however, the Raman spectra shows different kind of peaks....
The graphite is a 3-dimensional crystal of Carbon, and the graphene is a 2-dimensional structure (like a sheet) of Carbon. And the graphene nano-pellets contains the sheets in nano metric size. The heat treatment (in 650 C) may have changed the atomic structure from 2-D to 3-D.

I agree with Natarajan Karikalan and Hamid Tavakkoli,Raman spectroscopy is good technique to study crystal structure, disorder and defects in graphene based materials. To study chemical composition, there are more reliable methods like XPS and FTIR.Also,you can use microscopic techniques to differentiate among graphene naopelets, graphene nanosheet and graphite taking into account thikness.Graphite is a multilayer material, graphene is a single layer with thickness of 3.35Å and graphene nanoplatelets with an average thickness of the 5-10 nm .
I agree with accordance of Natarajan Karikalan report, but not only Raman IR spectrum alsogive strong evidence to differendiate the Graphene, RGO amd GO. Corresponding to its carbonyl peaks. also the aromatics CH- peaks where appeared...
What is the difference between the two (graphene sheet and graphene nanoplatelets) in terms of electrical conductivity and mechanical flexibility?
