I have been asked a lot of technical questions about the process mining by organization managers that I want to share here and read your answers.
What is the difference between process mining and BI dashboards?
IT team has designed the information system in my organization, so the structure is available (the staff is working on a defined railway). How process mining can help my organization to perform better?
On the other hand, a process analyst team is available in my organization. Do we need process mining and why?
Process mining is an analysis tool while BI-dashboards are for monitoring and reporting. These are different use cases. A process mining analysis can result in a new KPI that then should be monitored, but it can also lead to a process change (see Possible Outcomes).

Conference Paper BIpm: Combining BI and Process Mining
Dear Ali Noroozian BI & Process Mining will often analyze the same processes to gain insight but the level of analysis is different. Whereas BI's analysis compared to Process Mining is high level, more concerned with measuring if a process is meeting productivity and efficiency standards or meeting customer needs and satisfaction.
Dear Ali, BI answer the question, WHAT? it can show you when something went wrong and Mining answer the WHY? cause can tell you why it went wrong, also the PM is more depth that BI in the analysis. Yes, both tools use KPI's and data but in different depths. I think the important difference between Process Mining and Bi dahsboard is root cause analysis.
