The COD is increased in the experiment rather then decreasing?

hello sir, during my experiment the COD of the paper and pulp mill effluent (black liquor) is increased rather then decreasing after treatment with bacterial isolates. pls help me out

I guess you might need pH control. Your bacteria is not working properly. That's why other bacterial decomposition of organic substance increasing the COD content.

However, I really don't have any idea about the bacterial treatment.
