It depends on what you mean by "beneficial". If you mean it in a financial sense then, yes the cheaper the drug, the more beneficial it is. If you mean beneficial in a medical/ treatment response sense then the cost of the drug does not have a bearing on the treatment response as long as the patient can afford it. So in that respect, a drug that is prohibitively expensive will not be beneficial as the patient will not be able to afford it.

There is no linear relation between cost and benefit of a drug. In most of the cases added costs do not add proportionate benefit in chronic diseases.
