I have dyed a fabric sample with natural dyes. I want to find out what kind of bonds are formed between the fabric and the dyes. What kind of test is suitable to find out such information?
Dear Shahin Mohammad Nasimul Haque , probably both Raman and IR spectroscopies fit well for your samples. I will test the fibers and the dyes before the dying process and the dyed fiber after the process to look for some new bands that report about the new bonds.
C- and H- NMR of solids would also do the job.
Knowing the chemical composition of the fibers, dyes and reaction conditions will also help to identify the new bonds formed in the process.
If you do not know what the chemical structure of your dye is, first identify its compounds by spectroscopy( Raman and IR spectroscopies), then according to the type of fibers, you can identify the bonds we have made between the fibers and the dye.
