I have a new material that I want to characterize mechanically (compression and tensile tests...but hardness would be interesting too), but I can´t use the standard cube and cylinder samples size simply because I do not have enough material. Ideally I would like to compare this material to concrete or natural rocks materials. Is it possible to do it in a standardize way?

it's not necessary to use standardized size for specimens. you can use smaller or bigger samples as it's useful to your work situations. look for nanosized parts as nanotubes, nanoparticles, etc. they have much of tests in mechanical, physical, and thermal properties, none of them are in the standardized size.
yes specimen size may have effects, but not a crucial.
so, make your tests but refer to the size in the procedure.

I am Doing synthesis of CNT for reinforcement in Al MMC. the quantity of Material we acquired from the process is very less and it quiet complicate in making of MMC with desired quantity so to reduce the quantity of reinforcement we decided to make micro specimen for our tensile testing .the paper is in review so it is not necessary to have standardized specimen for cost effective material

We are also often conflicted as to which test specimens should be used (textile testing). Size effects and other testing conditions like velocity already play a role here. Of course, i don´t know, if this is the same to your materials. But if you have the possibility, it makes sense to compare all materials with the same test specimen. If the reference materials are missing, an indication of the size of the test specimens should always be given. Also keep in mind, that testing of natural materials can be effected by discontinuities, which leads to significant changes in mechanical behavior espacially for small specimens (a higher variance is to be expected).
If you need to compare more than one variant of your new material, another way to reduce the amount of necessary material is to show, that specimen size doesn´t matter regarding the mechanical properties. So first show there is no influence of size by comparing normal sized and smaller sized specimen. Following you compare the smaller sized specimen of your different variants.
