Is there an easier route to bypass dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) so that TPA can be directly converted into CHDM using only solvent reactions?
No expensive catalysts or meticulous processes as much as possible.

Conversion of TPA into CHDM by an easy route requires new research as far as I know. Treatment of TPA with hydrogen gas in the presence of Pt or Pd or Ni could yield 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid after which the diacid is to be reduced further into CHDM by LiAlH4 or by a method described in the attached link (Please see Scheme 11) without providing details by the reference itself. If you succeed in this conversion, you will have research of high quality in polymer chemistry & environmental chemistry.
