You are no longer able to leave comments on papers. The Research Gate minders deem this was not a useful function. I disagree. Sometimes one notices wrong conclusions or statements in a paper and, without writing a review and submitting it for publication, it is not possible to warn other people of these faulty conclusions. You can of course send a message to the authors, but are they going to do anything about it? Unlikely!
I thought the Comments section was one of the best aspects of ReseachGate.
I completely agree with you.
The ability to post such comments was easy and immediate, and public, which allowed other readers to also interact with these comments and also collectively help out, which is not possible with personal messages.
I benefited myself of such comments.

The removal of the comments took away the most useful avenue for collegial and non-adversarial feedback and real in-the-world peer review.
I have used the comments many times in the past to give encouragment and kudos to reseachers - especially those whose first langauge may not have been English - as well as to point out errors in a low-key mode and make suggestions.
Removing this ability to comment takes away one of the reasons to maintain a presence here on ResearchGate.
