There seems to be limited information regarding SYTOX deep red DNA counterstain in terms of its affinity to nucleic acids in dsDNA within fixed/dead cells. I would like to know how SYTOX deep red mechanistically binds to dsDNA (e.g. intercalation, minor or major groove binding, external binding), which ultimately leads me to wonder about the structural formula of SYTOX deep red.

Anything helps and is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
