What are the possible strategies to enabling a accelerated growth of Sustainable development in net zero energy buildings using solar energy
Some of the strategies which may adopted are as follows:
Active Solar Techniques:
1 Solar thermal for water heating and cooking using solar water heating systems and solar cooker respectively
2 Solar PV panels for fulfilling the electricity needs viz. lighting, fans, etc.
3 Solar PV for water pumping and transportation.
Passive Solar Techniques:
1 Orientation of the building for solar thermal comfort (location specific)
2 Cross ventilation
3 Glazing
4 Partial earth berming of building for thermal comfort
etc.

Another interesting strategy is the use of solar-assisted systems. For example solar assisted heat pump heating system is a way for reducing the electricity consumption due to the increase of the COP in the heat pump. These systems can be used for domestic hot water or for space heating. You can use flate plate collectors or thermal photovoltaics or various combinations.
