I am try to reproduce the result of a paper. On surface mode dispersion curve, I am not getting the dispersion curve similar to published article. In my case number of modes are more and Seudo- Surface wave modes in violate region is missing, which can be seen in published result.
I contacted the author as well, what he suggest me is "
you have to cut all the waves with group velocity slower than Rayleigh (or shear) wave in all the three directions of Brilluoin. Pay attention to the values of the wave-vector".
I am still confused and did not understand how can I do that.

I don't know what approach you did use to compute your SAW band structure, but you can find in the paper below a clear and simple method to efficiently compute the band structure for SAW propagating in a phononic crystal.

Dispersion curve which you are getting here is similar to PBG disperson curve and in PBG, to get the cutoff frequency and single mode operation, a and r both should have optimized initially.

Your comment is highly appreciated however I used COMSOL to generated the dispersion curve as similar method was adopted by published article. I am getting similar plot which is present inside paper which you have attached. Problem is I am getting all wave modes excluding the Seudo Surface waves which is shown in published paper which is necessary. It seems certain wave modes are missing and my dispersion curve although have surface wave modes still incomplete.

Thank you for your response and article. I read the article however I get dispersion curve using COMSOL Multiphysics, inside your attached article they used Matlab algorithms. As output COMSOL only generate Eigen-Frequencies corresponding to wave-vector, I am confused either I need to use Matlab for generated data to get the plot or it can be done in comsol as well which directly give me eigen-frequencies which would contain seudo surface waves as well.

I think your results are not far off.
Your curves look very similar to the actual curves, inside the light coloured region, and you have the right number of curves.
Your bottom 3 curves are very close to the three curves in the bottom region where the MS1 label is. The next two curves, in the region where the MS2 label is, are close, but the band gap to the band below is very small or non-existent, so some parameters need changing slightly. The sixth curve is close to the right shape, but is too low, so you need to look for a parameter that may move this up. The seventh curve is a bit low, but has a slight minimum, so is not far from what it should be.

You don't have any missing modes - in fact you have one more mode than in the original paper (at the very top). Your modes are just mostly the wrong shape in the orange region - except for modes 1 and 3 which appear to be the right shape all across.
I suggest you look at the zero phase and pi solutions - at both ends of the axis - to see what is stopping you from getting the right values here. It may be easier to solve at these values, and to see what is happening in the calculation.

I think that the horizontal scale is phase change per period, in radians. When there is zero phase change per period, or pi phase change per period, there may be more, and perhaps simpler, ways of obtaining a solution, that will enable you to check your result. If a simple method can be used, it may enable you to see what is making your solution different to the original solution.
