But in structural engineering,more difficulties arise when collecting indicators to diagnosis the necessary treatment .

I'd say that the analogy holds fairly well. We can treat structural integrity as health. Besides, a human is just a biological machine, so the analogy works in the other direction: a doctor is just an engineer that specializes in diagnosing and repairing humans.
