I would like to ask you for your experiences with long-term storage conditions (shelflife) for polymers, to be specific PE, PES, PA, PP.
To avoid moisture and oxygen degradation is it better to use vacuum or inert atmosphere of nitrogen? Eventually, are there significant differences?

Dear Zdeněk Petřivý, apolar polymers such polyolefins (PE and PP you mentined) are inaffected by humidity and water in general. Contrary to that, polyester, polyethers, and to less extent polyamides show sensitivity to water, for that they are shipped in well isolated bags and containers.

However, polymers usually do not require storage under very specific conditions due to their high molecular weight. But moisture-sensitive materials are usually maintained under vacuum and nitrogen gasflow. For example, moisture-sensitive catalysts are stored in vacuum conditions (glove box).
Polymers in high volume are usually stored in vacuum containers.
