You'll need to target more the dorsal Hipp and avoid the ventral part since it's more implicated in anxiety-like behavior, hyperactivity, and latent inhibition. The dorsal region is more involved in spatial memory processing ... also how do you proceed to induce alzheimer's? avoid using kainic acid because it will cause absence seizures in your rats.

Although I'm not working on Alzheimer's model in rats, I use four Dorsal hippocampal coordinates (AP: -2.8, -4.2; DV: -2.5; ML: -1.6, -2.6) in loss-of-function studies to cover it up entirely. (Reference: Paxinos rat atlas)
