I was just wondering and hope someone can answer my question.
In order to measure the length of fish on a given image which was taken with a stereo camera system under water, the camera must calibrated.
Is it possible to do the data collection first, then calibrate the camera, or the camera needs to be calibrated before the deployment?

you can do the calibration post data collection, but you need to collect some information for that, for example, images of the checkboard calibration chart target.

I can't think of a situation where it would make a difference, as long as the camera optics don't change between capturing the image and making the measurement. That includes paying attention to focus distances, zoom levels, etc.
