This year I set out a task to at least be a peer reviewer for 1 computerscience paper. I have tried my best in the past but it has been exponentially hard to get picked for this.
What are some of the ways I can start peer reviewing articles and contributing to scientific literature? Any help / guidance would be appreciated.

To become a peer reviewer, the most important thing is to acquire a reputation as a researcher. This depends mainly on the number and quality of your own publications.

Following on from what Dr Wolfgang R. Dick said, the journals are more likely to find you from your email address being included in papers, most often as the corresponding author. This has - happily - happened to me on some topics.

I used to write and also peer review for the nursing / carers' publications in the Mark Allen Group.
I think it started after they had accepted my articles and they then invited my to peer review.
The point of peer review is that experts go through your manuscript. Thus, being an expert in the field should be a pre-requisite. Publishing in that journal will often lead to those editors asking for your advice, so I recommend emailing editors of journals where you have published a few pieces. Alternatively, so journals have mentoring schemes, where usually a PhD candidate writes a review with their adviser.
