Splicing Active vs Passive fiber

Are there any tips and tricks for splicing active and passive fiber? I really want to improve my splicing success rate.

I am currently using Fujikura FM100P+, although the splicing loss is 0.00dB and the solder joint is relatively nice, it still burns. T-T
