I have histones extracted with acid precipitation from hek cells. What are the most appropriate spin columns for purification? I will not perform protein digestion.
After acid extraction, histone purification and enrichment can be achieved by subjecting the extracted material to ion exchange chromatography. Histone proteins are rich in basic amino acid residues. Due to their positive charge, histones have a high affinity for cation exchange resins which allows for their efficient separation from other contaminants.
You may also refer to the link below for histone purification kits which eliminates contaminating acid-insoluble cellular proteins that are left behind with standard acid extraction protocols.

It enables to isolate core histones from any cell culture or tissue sample. Two options are available for purification – the core histones may be purified using the convenient spin column format as one total population containing H2A, H2B, H3 and H4, or further purified into separate fractions of H2A/H2B dimers and H3/H4 tetramers by using the efficient gravity flow protocol.
