Dear colleagues,

we are regularly extracting DNA from forensic swabs placed in a standard 1.5 mL microtube supplied with c. 500 µL liquid. After a couple of hours of incubation, we pipet the liquid from these tubes into cryo tubes, which are needed for the following automated steps.

In order to avoid contamination due to sample handling, we are looking for spin baskets or filters that fit into the cryo tubes we use (8.2 mm diametre). The idea is to submerse swabs in liquid inside the spin basket, collecting the liquid after centrifugation, and discarding the spin basket including the swab.

Alternatively, it woul be also great to know about larger conical cryo vials (1.5 mL volume, inner diametre at least 8.5 mm).

Thank you advance and kind regards,

Helge
