I'm using ANSYS Fluent 2019 with Space claim, my problem is involving moisture diffusion (therefore using Species transport). I found that my h2o can never pass through the porous zone.
I have tried varous porosity value, viscous resistance, with and without UDF of different diffusivity, and even (in space claim): shared topology or without shared topology but with contact. Do anyone know how to fix this?
Did you try using the actual velocity formulation rather than using the superficial velocity formulation?
I really don't know, but it might work...
I tired with various range of viscous resistance, velocity formulation, superficial/physical and even porosity; can't help.
I saw online others having similar issue as well, but didn't saw solution.

Much of the youtube video can't help as well as most i can find is water/air mixture, while what i'm doing is species (Air + water vapour in air) diffusion into porous medium.
I'll update this thread since I think I've found the solution.
For Porous media in Air, during creation in SpaceClaim, the geometry used "SHARED TOPOLOGY" and when in MESH no contact will be created.
When Enter FLUENT, the Material will have its surface created as INTERFACE & its body created as INTERIOR.
if you try to initialize at this point you will get an error where fluent called this BC unassigned and flow will not be initialize.
Change the surface of material (where its bounday condition is "INTERFACE" to "WALL", then some surface will be delete. Then again change it from WALL to INTERIOR. (because you cannot directly change it to INTERIOR.)
So by now you will not have the surface of the material anymore, all the value can be defined through viscous reisistance, porosity in Cell Zone.
I'm not sure if this is the right way as I'm still in midst of my simulation, but I will update again as I progress.
