Hey Guys,

is there any rule on how long a spacer between the Stop codon of a gene and the downstream poly A signal (SV40 pA) needs to be? Do I even need a spacer? When I am looking at most mammalian expression vectors the poly A signal is 100 - 500 bp downstream of teh proteins stop. As I am re-engineering a vector I would really need to know if this kind of spacer is neccesary.

Thanks in advance!
