While the yellow-blooming eastern to south-eastern Chinese varieties abundantly produce fruit capsules and their seeds germinate readily, Japanese plants almost never. I would greatly appreciate your wisdom about the pink-lilac South Korean plants from Jeju and Jeonnam. I am hoping to reach someone in South Korea with first-hand experience or who can point me to literature in that language.

Thanks much, Subir, for your kind advice… I contacted her, but could not get the particular answer to this question! So I am still hoping to reach someone from South Korea who has seen the plants and observed their flowering, fruiting, seed setting and seed fertility or who can possibly point me to horticultural literature in Korean describing the reproductive behavior of this plant there.
