Some magnesium alloys do not corrode on the surface when immersed in a corrosive solution, but the surface is darkened, why?
Darkening of the surface is also an indication of corrosion. This is not active corrosion, but one that has stopped by itself or proceeds very slowly. Since most of the chemical compounds of magnesium are white, a darkening of the surface means that other elements in the alloy are being attacked, such as manganese or copper.
