Now, I am now working on soil erosion testing, submerged jet test (JET). I wonder that erosion strength of soil may be depended on water saturation in soil mass, related with unsaturated flow. My idea is measuring some variable of unsaturated soil during the JET test. Which equipment (e.g. several type of suction meters) I can use during the test? Thank you in advance.
Yes, the erodibility can be related to the degree of saturation (matric suction). I am not familiar with JET tests, though.
For measuring soil erodability, hole tests can be adopted, specifically pinhole tests

I think the strength of the soil against the erosion is directly depended on the degree of saturation as the matric suction significantly affects the stiffness of the soil (I suggest you have a look on Prof. Sai Vanapalli papers). Regarding the equipment, I am not sure, however, I think you can measure the change of the matric suction, during the erosion test, using some TDR sensors and then do tests, for example a small scale footing tests, to find the relationship between the matric suction and stiffness of the soil.
