Smart Water Management (Reduction of Water Wastage & Enhancing Efficient Usage of Water Resources): A Feasible Technology in Developing Countries?

With increasing growing population and decreasing water resources in the absence of significant technological advancement (‘Smart meters’ have not transformed the ‘Water-management’ as expected), whether the concept of ‘Smart Water Management’ has any scope – requiring a ‘huge initial investment’ with a very slow ‘Rate of Return’?

In the absence of a well-defined water network system, how easy will it be to collect, share and analyze the data?

Will it be feasible to mitigate the ‘non-revenue water losses’ resulting from ‘infrastructure damages’?

If not, how to prevent the ‘destruction of water resources’ ‘by humans’ resulting from surface and subsurface contaminants?

If yes, how to meet the ever-increasing (a) ‘water-demand’ and (b) ‘the number of people living in water scarce areas’?
