It’s not only people’s anxiety or depression during the lockdown in Corona crisis, experts are now worried about post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) of hospitalized patients. More than half a million people have been died from Corona worldwide and at least 10% infected have history of hospital admission.
A “significant proportion” of people who were hospitalized with Corona virus “will go on to develop symptoms” of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to a report from the United Kingdom’s COVID-19 Trauma Response Working Group.

Thanks Dr. Arvind Singh but it's always a neglected issue in South Asian context.
The statement that a 'significant number' of COVID patients will develop PTSD - is likely to be true for the following reasons -
1. COVID might not be interpreted as 'catastrophic stress' by all those hospitalised as most are seeing others afflicted as well.
2. Large numbers of COVID patients recovering and returning to previous levels of functioning has the impact of normalising the experience.
3. Those with severe physical symptoms constitute only 1-2% of prevalance.
4. Amongst those being followed up for mental health outcomes after recovery from COVID, we are not seeing frequent symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder (re-experiencing, numbing, startle...), which is often a precursor of PTSD.
Thus, while a few cases of PTSD related to COVID might show up later, it is highly unlikely that the world will see an epidemic or even 'significant numbers'.
A person's sensitivity and vulnerability to traumatic events vary. We should not expect the worse. Also some exhibit PTSD after a delivery.
The members of the staff vary in the experience of different events and they should not say to the patients that they are likely to develop this or that. Instead, contact us if you feel something unusual. .
