It's definitely possible to operate a blower outside of it's specifications. Most installations have a relief valve for this reason. The relief valve allows you to run against a "deadhead" without damaging the blower. If your installation has the wrong size relief valve, then you will see pressure differentials outside the manufacturers specifications. It is important to make sure that your relief valve has a higher operating CFM/M3/Hr than the blower if you expect to run against a deadhead.

One more note... Some manufactures specify that their blowers must be operated below a certain elevation. If you're at a higher elevation, this could be a problem.
