We receive numerous e-mails, both from known and unknown sources. It takes time and energy to go through them. That is OK. However, sometimes computer virus can enter un-invited and crash the computor. How to know, genuine and dubious e-mails?
Dear Rakesh, I've installed Avira on my computer (the free version) and I don't open any suspicious e-mails that I receive. So far (it's been quite many years) I didn't face any problems with viruses or anything similar.
Thanks for sharing this resource as it is really needed. I think sometimes, its better not to open e-mails that are anonymous as these can also be Ads that you may not have time to read.
Should we open e-mails which have no subject and written by persons whom we do not know?
Beside using anti-malicious email software etc., you can also check for the following:
hover your mouse over the email address of the incoming mail & you can see the actual hyperlink address - if the hyperlinked address is different from the email address shown, then very likely the incoming email is malicious
check whether the incoming email address URLs contain misleading domain name e.g. instead of apple.com, it displays as apple.com.misleadingdomainname.com or apple-maliciousdomainname.com etc.
You can refer to the following links for the above as well as other symptoms of malicious / phishing emails:
