As a vegetarian but also as a human Im ashamed when I see pictures of animals used in cruel experiments. I find it utterly disturbing and in all honesty sickening. What are your thoughts? How do you feel regarding this issue?

In my opinion, animal experiments should be banned. This is immoral, and we have no right to cause the death or harm of animals for our own self-interest (even if it is scientific advancement), because animals are just as emotional as we are, and annoying stimuli in so-called scientific research cause them to be harmed. It seems that the speed of moral growth of human beings (and in some cases even scientists) is slower than the speed of our scientific and technological growth, and we must pay attention to ethics in general and research ethics in particular.
