Since government competency is doubtful, should citizens insist on the ability to appraise governance? Should there be contract transparency, to inhibit and eventually eliminate procurement abuse and inflation, that left countries with inadequate resources to protect citizens? Or is the old way of doing things adequate with adjustments?
Yes, transparency is essential because these emergencies pave the way or facilitate corruption! If citizens are not vigilant, many fraudulent operations (overcharging, favoritism, …) can escape their attention because they are mostly concerned about their protection and that of their family.
Despite the need for this transparency, it is not certain that it will be everywhere or even regularly. In many states, without wanting to name one, it is rather the confusion that reigns in the management of this crisis. In others, it is an opportunity to make controversial political decisions, given the truce observed by some opponents.
